Greatest of all time
Ok, so we got a taste of what people are into right now, but how about growing up. Whose music brings back those memories of holidays and summer time and first day of school and day camp?? Who do you consider the great artists of all time? I will write a brief list because mine would fill up too many pages...
1. Nat King Cole - smoothest voice and INCREDIBLE piano skills
2. Stevie Wonder - not just the voice/musicianship, but his influence on music; a true legend
3. Michael Jackson - how can you listen to the Jackson 5 and not be blown away that a kid this young has so much soul and depth to his voice
4. Frank Sinatra - his voice fills the room; every song is a command
5. Marvin Gaye - I know he had a LOT more music to offer (R.I.P)
6. Donny Hathaway - Another great voice gone too soon (Sam Cooke as well)
7. Steve Perry
8. Peter Cetera (Chicago as a whole were just incredible)
9. Bobby McFerrin - if you don't know, just trust me. If you need proof, check out youtube, there's plenty there. (Especially his version of "I've Got the World on a String")
10. Singers Unlimited - very influential on one of my more recent favorites, Take 6
11. The Carpenters - amazing arrangements both musically and vocally
Ok, I'll stop and let someone else have a turn...

Aretha Franklin- Oh my GOD .. the queen to me!! Such a naturally soulful woman!
Whitney Houston- Oh my Gosh.. what a beautiful tone!!!!! Absolutely adore her.
Mariah Carey- Geeesh.. I live for that belt and range!
Michael Jackson- I'm such a groupie!
Marvin Gaye- What a sensually beautiful voice!
Donny Hathaway- Makes me cry with his simple and emotional shading.
Queen- They are so passionate and energy driven.
Aerosmith- ROCK STAR!!! I love it!
I also have a whole list of Classical composers like Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, Rachmaninoff, etc.
There's so many more but I'll give it a break.

Re: Greatest of all time
YoungQ, I remember when the "I Remember You" album dropped. Man, I thought Brian McKnight was the greatest artist on the planet at that point. The title track was a masterpiece man. It was like homework with the orchestration. Flutes, cellos, bassoons and what not. Early B was MONSTEROUS no doubt. great list. Of course I gotta give you credit for putting me on to Singers Unlimited. Now I'm hooked!
Sahsa, you weren't lying about versatility. You love it all! Ever get into Bela Fleck and the Flecktones?? I never thought I could appreciate the banjo outside of Kermit the Frog's rendition of the Rainbow Connection. I got into the group on the strength of Victor Wooten being the bassist. Those guys are AMAZING! Also, as a big classical fan, have you ever checked out any of Bobby McFerrin's work with orchestra's? Have you ever heard him sing Bach over Ave Maria??
